/ BEFORE YOU START

GOOD QUESTIONS.
CLEAR ANSWERS.

The details that help move a metal project from an idea to a useful quote.

What should I include in a quote request?

Include the intended use, dimensions, quantity, preferred material and thickness, desired finish, and target timing. Add drawings, reference photos or a sketch where available.

Do I need a finished CAD file?

A sketch is a valid starting point for discussion. If you have CAD or cut files, mention the file format in your brief. File compatibility and any drawing or design work are confirmed during project review.

Can I request just one part?

One-off parts and prototypes are part of our project focus, alongside repeat work. Feasibility and minimum job costs depend on the scope.

Which materials and thicknesses can you cut?

Material type, thickness, overall dimensions, edge quality and tolerances are confirmed per project. Include those requirements in your brief so the shop can review them.

How much will my project cost?

Pricing depends on material, geometry, quantity, setup, fabrication and finish requirements. A project brief starts the review; it is not an accepted order or a price commitment.

How long will it take?

Lead time is confirmed after scope review and depends on material availability, shop scheduling and the work required. Include your target date, especially for event or installation deadlines.

Can you handle finishing or installation?

List any coating, finishing, hardware, assembly or installation needs in the brief. Availability and responsibility for those steps must be agreed in the quote.

How do I send my project brief?

Choose Prepare email to Tommy to open an email draft addressed to Tommy@american-steel-works.com. Review it, attach any drawings and send it from your email app. You can also download the brief and email it manually. A request does not reserve shop time.
